About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

My mom is ukranian citizen , and she is planning go to Thailand with me , I’m currently in China.

She will fly from Bucharest to Guangzhou, and i want to make for transit 72 hours or 144 hours to stay for a while , after will fly to Phuket. She will have hotel booking in China , Thai and one way ticket to Thai . Is it enough to get the stay permit ? Thanks

No, Ukranian citizen are not eligible for 72/144-hour visa free transit. To stay for a few days in China, a visa is needed.

But I just have read that ukranian citizens are allowed to stay in China via transit .

I'm sorry but at present, there are still 53 counties eligible and Ukraine is not included. For your convenience, it is better to apply for a visa in advance.

Just have called the immigration. Before answering make a sure you are right , to give someone advices ! And YES , Ukrainian citizens are allowed to transit in China

Hi Mila, did you tell the immigration that your mom's transit time is longer than 24 hours? To my knowledge, Ukrainian passport holders can transit in China for less than 24 hours. If longer, a visa will be needed.

Yes , I informed them that she will have next fly from Guangzhou after 3 days . And official websites also have information about 53 countries, including Ukraine
