About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

UK residents entering at Qingdao via ferry and exciting to Mongolia via Train.

Hi there,

We will be arriving by Ferry from South Korea to Qingdao, where we'd get a train to Bejing and then from there to Ulan Bator. All transport would be booked in advance. Can we use a 72 our visa or are they not issued at Qingdao port? Otherwise can we apply for a Chinese entry permit in either South Korea or even Japan?

Many thanks for your help.

Matthew, you cannot get the 72 hour free transit for two reasons. First, it requires you to fly in and fly out of mainland China to use this free transit policy. Second, according to the relevant rule, if you use this policy, you can only stay in the transit city. Therefore, you must get an entry permit in advance. It's suggested that you apply for it from Japan.
