About:Chinese Consulate in Chicago

If I had all 7 of our passports and their trip itineraries, could I get visas for us in Chicago?

We live in Minneapolis and are going to China on a group tour in September. There are 7 of us as friends traveling together. Would I pay the $140 fee or the $120 fee?

Donna, if you plan to apply for group L, then you should prepare these documents:
1. invitation letter/ visa notice give by authorized Chinese travel agencies or local tourism bureaus.
2. an application form for group L. It is actually a form that contacts all group members information(name, sex, date of birth, profession, nationality and passport number)
3. every member's original and copied passport
4. an introduction letter from the travel agency, in which it includes group number, total number of travelers and contact information and travel itineraries.

If you prepare all required documents, then you can apply for the group L. It costs 120USD. If you can't get all required documents, then you should apply for individual tourist types. It costs 140 USD. I personally prefer individual tourist type. Suppose you get the group L types, you have to be always together. Everyone needs to have your trip according to your itineraries.

Thanks for the quick response. If I understand correctly, I could have all 7 peoples passports with me, have them ahead of time complete the individual tourist type application, and get them in Chicago without them being present. If this right?
