Can i apply for a ''F'' visa, under the category educational purposes?

i am going for a training period in shanghai university hospital for a period of 12 months.

I have received the letter from the in charge professor and the university invitation letter for my training.sealed and signed.

If you go there for a training, then F type is fine. I am afraid that th invitation letter from that professor isn't ok. You need to get the invitation letter from that university. By the way, the consular officers reserve the right to issue you another type rather than F type. Also they decide how long duration you will get.

yes i got the invitation letter from the university only with the university seal and stamp....along with a covering letter from the professor....
