can I apply for a tourist visa if my resident permit has been cancelled?

Hello,
I'm a student, I have a resident permit visa for study. However for some reasons my university is asking to cancel my resident permit. Can I apply for a tourist type in order to stay in China?

Patrick, you can visit local entry and exit management bureau to apply for a tourist type. However, its duration of stay might be just 30 days.
