No hi speeds between. You may go from Sahnghai to Shenzhen or Guanghzou first and then to HK.1

Yess you can. I've been traveling from HK to Shanghai by slow sleeper train on my winter trip January 2014.
You can go to Hung Hom train station in HK to buy the ticket. The train's departing is from Hung Hom station about 4.00 PM and will be arrive in Shanghai at 10.00 AM on next day0
