Can I change S2 to S1 type in mainland china?

I am from the Philippines. My parents used to live there, so I got the S2 type from them. However, they already moved to Germany and I am still here with my boyfriend./ He is an American working in a university in Nanjing. Is it possible to apply for one as a common law partner of my boyfriend? Do I have to leave before I can get this?

AMG, I'm afraid you cannot get the S1 type. Since you didn't marry your boyfriend, you cannot give proofs about your relationship. I don't think the exit and entry administration bureau will give you the S1 type.

What if I provide an affidavit duly notarized by the Philippine embassy that we are a common law partner? Thank you for your reply by the way.

AMG, as the new rule regulates, marriage certificate is required. So I don't think the affidavit you talked about works.
