About:China Customs Declaration
Is the 20,000 CNY currency limit per person? Or per family (myself, husband, and 2 kids)?

Check again. It is per family/group, though enforcement may be difficult.

Each traveller has to fill out a declaration card, so i assume the monetary limit is per person. But not 100% sure
