Food -what do you recommend?

I'm in Junnan almost one week and I 'm all the time hungry. The menu in restaurant is in Chinese, no pictures, no English. And when I order something is horrible...
Please help me, what you recommend to eat? I will google it and show them the picture.mm

Hey, did you mean Yunnan? If so, could you tell which city you stay at and what kind of food you prefer? Hot, sour or spicy?

Well, since you have special requirements for food, I think you'd better bring a slip of paper, which has some sentences written in Chinese, like "我不吃肉。我喜欢清淡一点的菜,最好不要辣椒。(Wo Bu Chi Rou. Wo Xi Huan Qing Dan Yi Dian De Cai, Zui Hao Bu Yao La Jiao). "

Then I think the servant fully understands what kind of dishes you want. They can recommend you some dishes or ask the chef to cook some dishes as you require.

Now I am in Dali, later in Lijang. I prefer anything what I am able to eat...better with no meat because you end up with only greasy bits of fat and no actual meat...something not stodgy because my belly suffers all the time...not spicy. It can be even tasteless like steamed buns - I discovered it today and ate with rice porridge. Tkank you for help.

In Lijiang, you should taste the Clear Noodles (Liang Fen) and Mengzi Guoqiao Mixian. When ordering the former, tell them you want light flavor; while for the latter, tell them you don't want any meat. In Dali, the Ru Shan, a snack instead of a dish, is worth a try.
