About:China Customs Declaration

I have personal camera equipment that I want to bring into China under a Z-visa.

I have a significant amount of camera equipment and will be teaching photography at an international school near Shanghai. I intend to hand-carry my equipment via my carry-on luggage and have two camera bodies, several lenses and other peripheral equipment. It is all well-used, but expensive (one lens is about $10,000 USD if I have to replace it). will I still be taxed for it? If so, how is that tax figured?

Mark, you won't be taxed. You just need to fill the declaration form and declare your cameras at the customs. Then you won't have trouble when you take them out.
