About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

If I arrive on sept 8 in Beijing from NEW YORK CITY and leave Sept 11 before midnight

do I need a Visa also am I able to go to any other cities in China without getting a Visa

Samantha, if your total layover is not beyond 72 hours, then you don't need the entry permit. However, you cannot go to other cities during the layover period.
