About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I have to travel from and to different countries? Or can I travel on a 72 hour vacation?

Leaving KL to land Beijing 1am 16th July, and returning from Beijing to KL at 2am on 20th July.

Jane, Malaysia isn't one of the 51 countries. What's more, your route isn't qualified for 72 hours free transit. You'd better apply for a L type in advance before you go to Beijing.

Thanks. I hold a GB passport, so that's OK. It's the route that's the issue as it's not a transit between two different countries. Thanks.

Yes, you are right. The departure country can't be the same as your destination. If you plan to go to HK before you ge back to KL, it's also impossible.
