About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Do I qualify for 72 hours free transit even though I arrived via a connecting flight from HK?

I will fly from USA to Shanghai via a connecting flight from HK (so USA to HK, then 2 hours in HKIA before catching the connecting flight onwards to PVG Shanghai). I will stay in Shanghai 2 days and then fly to HK (staying for 2 days) and then back to USA.

I'm sorry, you do not qualify for the 72-hour free transit, because you enter from Hong Kong to Shanghai and then back to Hong Kong.
