About:China Work Visa

applying from Hong Kong

Hello, Can i get my invitation letter in the mainland and then apply for my Z visa in Hong Kong as opposed to going back to my home country? Who decides if I can do that. The company or the province? I've heard it's different in different places but I would like to know and confirm so that I don't needlessly go to the States. Thanks. Mary

Hi, Mary! Where are you now? If you are in Hong Kong, the Commisoner Office under PRC Foreign Affairs Ministry decides whether you can apply for the Z type from there. If you don't have HK residence status, it's likely that you have to apply from elsewhere, but not necessarily from the United States.
