Ayo, usually it isn't required for applying L type. However, some Chinese embassies require it for certain nationals. In my opinion, you can take it with other documents. If the consular officers ask for it, you can submit it.

Ayo, exit permit isn't required. However, resident permit for study is required. By the way, I have no idea whether your application will be granted or not. You know, Chinese embassy in your country doesn't issue L type to individual Nigerians. I don't know if other embassies take the same policy.

It has nothing to do with your invitation letter. The letter is just a piece of document required for the application. However, the consular officer finally decide whether the applicants will be granted with visas. Sometimes, those who prepare all required documetns were refused at last.

What I tried to say is that there is a risk that your application won't be accepted.

If your brother works or studies in China, you can either apply for the L type or S type. However, no matter what type you apply, there is a risk that your application will be denied.
