About:China Student Visa

Can you you change from an X type visa to an M type, while in China, or do you have to leave?

My Son is studying in Beijing and wants to extend his stay and work.

Peggy, I suggest your son try to change the X type to M type at the Beijig Entry & Exit Administration by providing all the documents that the officer required. But he cannot work for a long time in China with the M type. If he wants to work for a relatively long time, he should change the X type to Z type, instead of the M type.
