About:Chinese Consulate in Vancouver

Does anyone know if US citizens can get Chinese visa from the Chinese Consulate in Vancouver?

Hi,
We are US citizens living in Seattle, WA. Technically by consular zoning, Seattle is covered by the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco, CA. Obviously, it's a much easier trip up to Vancouver, BC for us.

I know the official guidance requires 'legal resident status' for non-Canadians wanting to apply for Chinese entry permit in Canada, but as you know for US citizens coming to Canada the best you will have is a stamp by the Canadian boarder officer on our US passport.

I know someone who did this regularly about a decade ago, but not sure what the policy is like these days.
thanks

Joe, based on my knowledge, the rules nowadays seem to be more strict. If you are just temporarily stay in Canada and cannot provide valid residence card, work certificate, or study certificate, it's possible that your application will be rejected. To play safe, you are suggested to do it in your own country.
