Z visa for not native possible?

Hey! I really need help. I have been living in ShenZhen for all over one year. I came with business visa cause my employer told me to do that (I didn't know it was illegal to work on the M type) then I changed my job and started to teach English (I lived in USA but I am not native). Well I decided to do that cause my employer was paying me 3k ¥ and I was living inside the office. Everything was terrible. Then in ShenZhen there are a lot of opportunities in teaching. Unfortunately I came into a training center. They promised me a Z type then they never did it. I needed to buy a new M type by myself cause my previous one was about to expire. Right now I am looking for a new job, I am considering only serious employers (so difficult) and public schools but it seems impossible to get a Z type for a not native. I wanna be totally regular that's why I would like to get a Z type. I am hearing different stories everyday like "you are not native so if you teach English you will never get a Z type" then "I am not native, I teach English but I got my Z type" others are "it's up to the school, if they have connections you can get a work visa even if you are not native" "if you have a master's degree plus teaching experience in China you can easily get it, maybe not in ShenZhen but in another province". Omg it's so crazy. I am from Italy (27), I have bachelor and master in finance, teaching experience + working experience and I don't know what to do. I am finding public schools that wanna hire me but then there is this issue about the Z type. What can I do? I don't wanna teach anymore illegally. Plz help if you can. Xie Xie :)

Stef, it's true that schools prefer to hire native English speakers with at least bachelor's degrees. But some non-native speakers are recruited too. Some of them acquire the Z types eventually.

And you are right that the employer has the final say. They can decide who they are going to recruit. Personally, I think it is very difficult for you to enter public schools. You may keep searching for the qualified training centers who are capable recruiting foreign teachers legally. These agencies can help you to acquire the Z type.

By the way, please do not work with your M type anymore. Once you were found out, you would have been punished. It isn't a big deal if you are just fined or detained. But these records might affect your future applications if you plan to enter PRC in the future.

Thanks a lot. I know that's why I quit the job with the center now. you better be careful with the Chinese rules. The true reality is all the private education sucks (I had a lot of fun in the school but basically they care about money and appearance, the teaching is nothing), and after experienced it, I don't want to do again. I was almost forced to take the job in the center cause unfortunately my previous employer was not paying me for 2 months (also as I did mention before the salary was really really low). The reason why I am looking for a public school is basically this, even because I love teaching and I have been a great teacher. I love PRC and i would like to stay but if I need to work again under "wrong conditions" I prefer to leave. It is really sad, ShenZhen is lovely but I do not want to risk. Also I studied hard, I have a master in finance and I am not stupid. I have a lot of friends in ShenZhen, they come from all over the world, mostly they teach, especially the American ones. Well some of them told me that other friends, who come from America too, are currently teaching English in public schools with no university degree...of course they got the Z types just because they have an American passport. I am not criticizing US, I lived there and I love it, but I almost speak English as native and I cannot be regular just because I don't have a native English speaking passport. This is very ridiculous. I am also applying for jobs in Hong Kong but it is super competitive and I am not sure if I will find something. Sorry for stressing you up guys. Well it's life :)
