How to get an extension on my single entry Z type?

Hi,

I am an Australian citizen working on a project in China which has been extended, so I will need to extend my visa accordingly!
I have a single entry Z type valid for 60 days.

What is the process to extending it?
How long will the process take?
What is the maximum allowable extension in days?
Will it be easier to leave to HK and obtain a new entry permit from there?

Thanking you in advance.

Mohammed, as far as I know, the regular Z type is a single entry permit valid for 30 days. You can change it into a temporary residence permit after you enter. The temporary residence permit is often valid for one or two years. Therefore, I get confused about your situation. Haven't you changed the Z type into this residence permit yet?

No, my visa is definitely valid for a max of 60 days.
Applying for temporary residency is a complicated process which I do not need and don't want to go through.

Thanks anyway.

Well, then you can try to extend it at the local exit and entry administration bureau by providing your passport, recent photos, the current Z type and materials that can justify the extension, for example, a letter from your company.
The process often takes seven working days.
The maximum allowed extension shall not exceed 60 days.
Since HK residence status is required for applicants in HK, I’m afraid you cannot apply from there. Anyway, the best solution would be extend your current Z type within mainland.
