China visa application without Vietnamese ID proof

Hi, I'm a British citizen born in Vietnam, wanting to visit relative, what document would I need to provide for my application? I've never had a Vietnamese passport or a birth certificate, my family came to UK as refugees back in 1981.

Much appreciate if anyone could advise
Thank you

Ami, if you plan to stay for a short time, you may need to apply for a tourist L type. The required documents are your British passport, a copy of the passport's photo page, a filled-out application form affixed with your recent photo, and an invitation letter from your relative. If you want to stay a long time, you need to apply for an S type. Aside from the above-mentioned documents, you also need to submit a photocopy of the relative's ID card or passport and a certificate proving your relationship. It does not matter if you don't have a Vietnamese ID proof.
