About:Internet in China

PLZ HELP!! URGENT!! Internet and mobile access in Guiyang(China)

Hello,
I am traveling from India to Guiyang in China. My questions are-
1. Where can i find a local sim? Is there any specific places? how to find those?
2. In case I dont get proper Internet/wi-fi access from the Hotel I am going to stay shall I get Internet on my mobile?
3. In case I do not get proper Internet/wi-fi access to my laptop from Hotel what are the other options to send long files through gmail?
4. Does gmail work? If not then what is the alternate e-mailing option from Guiyang to India?
5. Can I use whatsapp, Skype on my mobile once I get the Internet service?

It depends on your phone. If it is a GSM phone, then you can use China Mobile (中国移动) and China Unicom (中国联通). There are many branches on the street. You can easily find one on the main streets.

If you plan to use your phone to access to the internet, you should buy data packages from China Mobile or China Unicom when you buy the card.

Gmail and what's app are blocked in mainland China. So I am afraid that you can't use them. If you have outlook or yahoo mail accounts, you can use them after you arrive.
