About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Does the 72 transit visa apply so I sleep in a hotel?

Melbourne to Beijing and returning 10 days later. Have 10 hour stopover in Guangzhou on the return.

So your itinerary is Beijing-Guangzhou-Melbourne, right? If so, I am afraid that you can not make use of 72 hours free transit because you stop by two Chinese cities.
