Extension for an S1 visa

Hello, I am here on a Z type and my wife is accompanying me on an S1 type. Our residence permits expire next month. I will get a new one and residence permit but we'd like to just extend hers for now. I went to the PSB today to ask if that is possible and what documents we need to submit in order to do that. They said it was possible and gave me a list in Chinese of documents that are needed. When I arrived home and translated the title of the document they gave me I realized they had given me the list that is need to apply for a residence permit. Are the requirements really the same for extending yours as they are for getting a residence permit? Or is it possible that they didn't understand what I was actually needing and gave me the wrong list?

Atman, the requirements should be the same. We call the extension. In fact, they just issue a new one to us. You just need to prepare the required documetns and "extend" your wife's S1 at the PSB.
