About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I qualify for 72 hours free transit visa? Spanish passport in HK

Hi!
Spanish passport, flying from Hong Kong to Shanghai for the weekend and coming back to Hong Kong.
Arriving time in Shanghai Friday at 23.55 (almost Saturday) and coming back Sunday afternoon.

Or can I apply for the 24h as it is technically 1 day (Saturday to Sunday) staying in Shanghai?
Thanks for your reply!

Hi Alex, since you are flying from Hong Kong to Shanghai and then back to HK, your route is not regarded as valid transit. Thus, you do not qualify for both free transit policies.

Thanks Fisher for your reply! I´ve been told that they don't check where are you coming from, they just ask for the outbound flight ticket (in my case Shanghai-Hong Kong), and therefore it should not be a problem to get the transit type. Do you think they are very picky?
Thanks
