About:China Visa Application Requirements

Applying for the Z visa.

I am an Australian citizen looking to move to Guangzhou China to start freelance work for a Chinese Company. I understand I need a Z type, although I will be working for myself, is the Z type the best one for me?

With applying for the Z - I understand there are medial checks and documents that are needed in order to apply, am I able to have these checks in Australia and provide these forms to the Embassy in Australia? Or will I need to have the medical checks in PRC and complete the application once I am in there? If all is completed when I am there- what do I get to enter first to then proceed with the Z application?

I have had previous business types before when working for an Australian company. Also can you please provide me with an example of one of the supporting documents I need to apply?

Bernadette, if you intend to work in China, then the Z type would be the best and only one for you to apply. You have to apply for it before you come to Guangzhou. Generally speaking, when applying for the Z type, medical reports are required to get the work permit. Besides, after your entry, you will need a medical report issued at a local authorized hospital to apply for a temporary residence permit. Therefore, you have to do the physical examination twice, before and after your travel.

The supporting documents may include an invitation letter from Duly Authorized Unit and a work permit. You can get them with the help of your employer.
