Can a 16 year old chinese resident sign a letter of invitation to China?

We host a 16 year old student in the US and he has invited us to his home for 10 days. We have airline tickets but no hotel reservations as of yet. His family is hosting us. Can he write the letter and sign it?

Karen, as far as I am concerned, the student can write you the invitation letter. However, if you want to make your application process more smooth, it’s better to ask his parents write you the letter.
