About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Thailand to LA with 8-hours in Beijing

I'm flying on a return leg from Thailand to Beijing to Los Angeles. My layover in Beijing is 8 hours. 1, do I qualify for the 72-hour free transit and 2, is that enough time to go out and get back?

Loreen, you qualify for the free transit. Deducting about three hours at the airport for clearing custom and boarding, you still have five hours, so I think it’s enough for you to get out and then back.

It takes about half to an hour for you to leave the airport, and you should arrive at the airport two hours earlier.
