re: acquiring a Chinese Z type in South Korea

Hello! I am looking to acquire my Chinese Z type here in South Korea. I am a Canadian currently working in Korea, but I will be moving to China for work in August. I would like to acquire my working visa here (not in Canada) so that I can travel directly from Korea to China.

Is this possible? What documents, funding, etc. do I need (i.e. criminal checks, medical checks, photos)?

Thank you!

Hi Kelly! Do you have an ARC card which is valid for at least six months? If you have got it, it would be possible for you to do the application in South Korea. The document required for submission may include: a valid passport, a photocopy of the passport’s data page, the original and photocopy of the ARC card, an application form, a recent passport style photo, a Chinese work permit, and an invitation letter from Duly Authorized Unit.

Generally speaking, medical report and criminal checks are not required during the application process. However, after you enter China, you should convert your working Z type entry permit into a temporary residence permit. During the conversion process, those two documents may be required. Therefore, you had better prepare a criminal check and a Physical Examination Record for Foreigner in advance.
