does visit visa require invitation letter

Question

Ayub,I want to visit some cities in China like Zhangzhou,Shendong, in henan province or nearby  to visit chinese cultural places like Shaolen tample,River view etc.Which type is required and do i need invitation letter to apply through embassy,if Yes then should that invitation letter be from any Chinese citizen.Please support in this regard.thanks.

Ayub111, you shoul apply for a L type in advance. The invitation letter can be issued by a Chinese citizen, organization or foreigners. Chinese citizens need to provide copies of their Chinese IDs. Foreigners are required to provide copies of their passport information pages and valid visas. If you can't provide the invitation letter, round-trip air tickets and hotel booking are required.
