About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Layover of 10 hours from a Filipino Citizen

Hello i just want to ask if as a Filipino Citizen am I allowed to go out from the airport in Beijing while waiting for my next flight to Sweden? I have a 10hours layover at PEK aiport and i just want to meet my chinese friends. Thanks

Yes, you can leave the aiport by applying for a temporary stay permit there as you can take advantage of the 24-hour direct transit facility.

Thanks for the positive response. I asked the embassy of china here in the Philippines they told me that i need to have a visa even if it will just take an hour or more. Maybe they didnt know about this policy that for as long as i have a confirmed connecting flight to Sweden (3rd country) i can make use of the time to go out and meet my Chinese friends. Thanks a lot. Can i just ask where do we ask that temporary stay permit in the airport? Do we ask that from the immigration officer who stamp our passports in Beijing? Thanks a lot again

Yes, you can ask the immigratino officer where you need to apply for the stay permit. It's actually just a stamp too. Of course it is for free.
