About:China Travel Tips

Can someone tell me what the protocol for tipping is in China (Beijing)? I am a solo traveller.

In Australia it is not a habit to tip anyone, and I've been to Singapore twice and they discourage tipping.

Taffy7, actually Chinese people don't have the habbit to tip too. However, considering that you are a foreigner, you might tip someone if you are satisfied with his service, especially the tour guides and drivers, CNY100 per day for the guide and CNY50 per day for the driver if you travel as a solo. At the restaurants, I don't think you need to do it.
