Information about converting visa in Hong Kong

Hi!
I'm converting my X type to Z type, i'm doing my employment licence right now, once I do it, I will have to leave China to convert it, before you could do it in Hong Kong, but I heard recently there are some risks in Hong Kong, some applications get rejected due to the China-Hong Kong relationships, I'm not 100% sure though, thats what my employer said.

So if anyone had their application done in Hong Kong let me know, also any useful information's are welcome

Many Thanks

Hey Deepauk! Nowadays, it’s hard to get mainland China entry permit from Hong Kong because it requires the applicants hold HK residence status if they want to apply from there. So your employer is right, it’s too risky to do the application in HK.

My suggestion is to go to the local Exit and Entry Administration Department and see if you can change the X type into Z type. If the officer agrees with your application, then it’s perfect because you needn’t to leave China. If he says you can’t do so, then you have to go back to your home country and apply for a Z type from there.
