About:Chinese Consulate in Edinburgh

Does the Chinese Consulate grant Employment Visas in Edinburgh?

I am asking on behalf of my girlfriend who lives just outside of Edinburgh and is going to teach in Shangai from June 2015.

If so, is it still possible to receive the Z type in time if she only comes for her appointment at the beginning of May 2015?
Thank you and I look forward to your response!

Hi Alistair! Your girlfriend can apply for the employment type entry permit at the CVASC office in Edinburgh. Generally speaking, the application process takes four working days, so I think it's fine to start the process at the beginning of May. However, before the process, she should get a work permit issued by Chinese Human Resources and Social Security Department and an invitation letter from duly authorized unit through her employer. It takes some time to get the two documents, so she should get them prepared in advance.

Thank you for your timely response!

She is in the process of getting those documents from her employer in China. They are just waiting for her medical check (general consultation, blood test, ECG and chest x ray) to be done and sent to them (which costs a fortune in the UK!).

And my last question:
How much does it cost to apply for in Edinburgh? And the courier service after the appointment?

Thanks again!

Kind Regards,

Alistair

It costs 66 pounds if you apply for the entry permit in person. If you submit the application by post, it will cost 84 pounds in total.
