About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Do I qualify for the 72 hour transit Visa or do I have to get a tourist one?

Hello, I am a US citizen travelling from Windsor, Canada to Shanghai arriving on May 13th. I have a flight booked from Beijing to Manila on May 16th.
Thank you,
Emily from Michigan

Emily, sorry to tell that you are not eligible or the 72 hour free transit. So you need to get a tourist or transit type entry permit in advance. The consular officer may ask you to provide a valid passport, a photocopy of the passport's data page, a filled application form with a recently-taken color bare-headed photo stuck on it, and flight tickets.
