China visa when visiting Hong Kong

I am traveling to Hong Kong and want to extend my trip with a visit to mainland. Can I get a rush (24 hours) entry permit while I am in Hong Kong. (Iam living in the USA but have a Dutch passport)

Wilma, if you haven't arrived in HK, I do think you should apply one from Chinese consulate in USA. You know, it is required the applicants who apply in HK must provide their HK resident permits. If you don't have this permit, I am afraid that your application might be refused.
