going from student visa to tourist type

Question

Hi, I am a student at present in Shanghai and my curent one expires 10 days after I finish at University but my parents are coming and we wish to travel for three weeks after I finish.  This means that I need to extend it about 15 days!   I wonder, can I go from a X type to a 1 month L type by going to the PSB?  Thanks

Nats, the good news is that you can possibly change the X type into a one-month L type at the Exit and Entry Administration Division of local PSB. The process should be started before your X type expires.
