About:Hong Kong Visa Application

Hong Kong Visit or Tourist Visa? and Fees?

Hi,
I'm a Syrian residing in the United Arab Emirates, want to visit Hong Kong for shopping/leisure.
Would like to, the extent possible, avoid any potential points of rejection/decline in the application.
Would you recommend the entry permit request is attempted on Visit or Tourist basis?
I have NOT joined any tourist group(s) but managed to secure my itinerary details along with hotel confirmation.
The fees as per the IMMD.GOV.HK are $ 190 (does not mention whether this is denoted in US or HK dollars) and the Chinese embassy staff in UAE/Abu Dhabi gave me a totally different figure.
May you kindly confirm the fee?
Thank you.

Ali, if you apply from HK Immigration Department directly by post, it costs HKD190. If you apply via Chinese embassy in UAE, the cost does differ. Although Chinese embassy in UAE doesn't specify its cost on its webite, I think they might charge service fee based on the information I found on other websites of Chinese embassies. You know, sometimes Chinese embassies can't issue HK ones. They need to transfer your application to HK. Another reason you should take into consideration might be the exchange rate fluctuation.
