About:Chinese Embassy in Norway

24h transfer

Hi,

I'm currently in Norway, and I have flight tickets from Shanghai to Singapore in April. I was thinking of booking an one way ticket to Shanghai to be able to make that flight. I'm currently in the process of applying for a working permit from Norway (Z visa), however I will most likely only get 1 entry, and CANNOT use up this entry when transferring to my Singapore flight. Is it possible to tell the Immigration Officer that I only want 24 hours transfer, so they will not stamp my Z type? The flight tickets are booked with different airlines, so I will have to pick up my luggage in Shanghai and check in to Singapore flight.

I had a similar situation when flying via Shanghai to Hong Kong. I had to go through immigration to pick up my luggage and check in. The immigration officer allowed me to use 24 hours transfer, but at that time I didn't have an entry permit. Now I want to avoid stamping my Z type when transferring, so that I will get in to China after my holiday in Singapore.

I appreciate all help and answers I can get! Thank you in advance.

Ida, do you hold a Norwegian passport? If yes, actually you can make use of the 72 hour free transit policy. If no, at least the 24 hour free transit policy is available for you. So you needn't to worry about the issue. In addition, though you are only granted with one entry by the Z type, you can apply for a residence permit within 30 days after your arrival. Then you can leave and enter freely with the residence permit.
