How could I get the proof of single status certificate?

I am a Canadian born citizen, and I need to go china to marry Chinese fiancé. Where I could get the single certificate done? Do I need to get it notarized in the Chinese embassy in Vancouver before I go to china? Thanks

Tina, you can either get it from Canada or the Canadian consulate or embassy in PRC. If you get it from the latter, the certificate needen't to be notarized. If you want to get the single status certificate from Canada, first you should go to the Foreign Affairs Ministry or its authorized organization and get the the document, then have it notarized, then go to the Chinese embassy in Canada and have the document authenticated. I suggest you contact with the Canandian embassy first and consult whether you can get the certificate from China. If it says yes, just do all the things after your arrival. It's much easier than doing it in Canada.
