Is there any social significance of dragon boat festival?

Enson, dragon boat festival is to commemorate Qu Yuan, a great poet as well as a patriot. He killed himself in the river because he couldn't do anything to save his country. He is a good example. Chinese young people should learn to be patriots. I think it's one of the social significance. On the other hand, this festival is a part of traditional Chinese culture. Spending the festival every year is useful for Chinese people to remember our traditional Chinese culture.
