About:China Student Visa

Can I change my x1 visa to x2?

And it is possible if I get a residence permit, will I be allowed to have multiple entry?

Leah, there is no need to do it. After you acquire the resident permit, you can enter and exit mainland China as many times as you can. It works like a multiple entry one.
