How to visit Rainbow mountains in Gansu?

We heard about the beauty of Rainbow mountains. How do we get there? Also can we include this in a 8 days Silk Road tour as well? We also like to visit the Mogao Grottos in Dunhuang. Is April a good month for our visit?
