Hi all. To apply for a china visa do I need to show proof of air ticket for entry/exit day. I'm going travelling for 12 months and will be going to Japan first before China so i was going to purcahse my air ticket in Japan. I have made a list of places I will be visiting in China with some dates. Are they strict on me sticking to the dates. Thanks

Sharon, I just applied for my China visa in Kuala Lumpur and they did not require that I have a return ticket. I had a flight there but I also think that is not necesary to show them. I did explain that I was going to be leaving to Hong Kong by train from Guangzhou and they were fine with that. ON the website they don't ask for plane tickets going or returning just a hotel reservation.
You can book a hotel in China, print it and use that. Most places it's a free cancellation 24 hrs ahead.....some are 3 days so check for sure beforehand.
On the website they do also ask for an invitation letter...the hotel reservation takes the place of this so don't worry about that.
