What is the process of obtaining a visa and the processing period?

I am a Jamaica who wants to working in PRC.

First, you need to ask your employer in China to apply for a work permit and invitation letter or invitation confirmation letter from a duly authorized unit for you. Then, take the following materials to the embassy and submit the applcation: a valid passport, a photocopy of the passport, a filled application form, a recent taken personal color photo, the work permit, and the invitation letter or invitation confirmation letter from a duly authorized unit. Normally speaking, the processing takes about four working days.
