My legal name is different from that on my passport (due to marriage).

I will not have time to get a new passport before my visit to my sister. Will this be a problem when applying for a Visa?

Rebecca, if your name on the entry permit is not consistent with that on your passport, it's possible that you won't be allowed to enter China. I suggest you apply for the entry permit with your current passport, and fill the previous name in the name box on the application form. Or you can explain the situation to the embassy officers and ask for their advice.
