full day which two great wall should we visit, for 1st timewant no rush, so taxi

Our family is coming to Beijing for the 1st time, and want to dedicate a day to visiting the wall at our own leasure, so no tour.  Which is best taxi or driver? Cheapest? I've heard u can get taxi for 500...is that for full day, with them being willing to wait in their car while u walk tbe wall for hours, tgan head to section 2?  We are not travelers so nervous about being left in the middle of no where.  We leave in 3 days and wiĺl be there during the new year holiday in febuary...do we need reservations, or can this be arranged upon arrival with the help of our hotel? ???  Thank you!!!!

Andrea, you are right. You can get a taxi. CNY500 is for a full day round-trip. Yes, you can ask your hotel staff to help you find a taxi. But I guess that the rental fee might be a bit more expensive. You need to bargain with the driver. By the way, you needn't be worried that the driver goes away when you climb the wall. You can pay after you finish the trip. And there is no much difference between a taxi or a car driver. They almost charge the same. But I think it's easier for you to find a taxi rather than a car driver, right?Chinese Spring Holiday is from Feb. 18 to 24. So many Chinese tourists might take this opportunity to travel out. If possible, you may reserve your accommodation in advance.
