About:China Visa Application in USA

US Citizen Entry to Chinese mainland from Hong Kong

I will be visiting Hong Kong as a tourist for a week in March. I do not believe I need a visa to enter Hong Kong. However, I would like to visit the Chinese mainland while I am there. which type do I need to apply for?

Dawn, US citizens enjoy 90 days free stay in HK. So you needn't apply one for HK. However, you should apply for a L type for your mainland trip. It requires your passport, completed application form, a recent passport photo, round-trip air tickets and hotel booking.
