About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

M visa - does the inviter need to send a copy of their ID?

I'm applying for an M type. Slightly confused about one aspect. Do I need to receive a letter of invitation from my trade partner AND a copy of their ID?

You need the invitation letter from your trade partner, but the copy of their ID cards are not required under normal circumstances.
