electric mobility scooters

We have a go go elite mobility scooter which airlines in the US transport for free for a tourist with MS handicap. Will your airline transport free? Or must we pay? Or is there a problem about the batteries? The scooter breaks down into three pieces.

It is for free to take onboard, but you need to apply for a permit from the airline at least 72h beforehand.
