My first international trip to Biejing

Aside from the flight, I am looking forward to experiencing this culture. My palate though is not too adventurous - can you advise of authentic restaurants that offer a local flavor but a little on the conservative side. I'm guessing public transportation is the way to go?

The most notable local dish is the Quanjude Roast Duck. There are may branch stores in the city. Near the Hepingmen subway station, and in Wangfujing, there are shops you can pay a visit by subway.
